Potential bioindiors for assessment of mineral status ...The aim of this study was twofold: (1) identify suitable bioindiors to assess elemental status in elephants using captive elephant samples, and (2) understand how geochemistry influences mineral intake. Tail hair, toenail, faeces, plasma and urine were collected quarterly from 21 elephants at five UK zoos. All elephant food, soil from enclosure(s), and drinking water were also sampled.
Gemology CenterMinerals have long been the focus of gemstones. The reference to gems in ancient writings and the existence of ancient scientific works about gems are evidence of this attention in ancient Iran. In today's world, the high volume of gemstone trade reaches several hundred billion dollars a year, but the development of the gemstone industry in the country has been done traditionally and ...

Pyrite oxidation: a stateoftheart assessment of the ... · It is now clear that the hodic reaction is the ratedetermining step for sulfide mineral oxidation (, Brown and Jurinak, 1989). Williamson and Rimstidt (1994) showed that the pyrite oxidation rate depends on the concentration of Fe 3+ or O 2 (Fig. 2, Fig. 3). Because the oxidant is involved in the activated complex, we can deduce that electron transfer from the sulfide to the oxidant ...
The California Mineral Resources ProgramAlthough all mineral commodities mined in California are studied, special emphasis has been given construction aggregate because it is the state's most important mineral commodity in terms of tonnage, value, and societal infrastructure.
